In the run-up to the 15th United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP15) to be held from 7 to 19 December 2022 in Montreal, Canada, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is updating its Red List of Threatened Species. The list now includes 42,108 species threatened with extinction, including the dugong, a large herbivorous marine mammal found on the coast of East Africa and New Caledonia.

Au moins 84% d’entre eux souhaitent que le gouvernement d’Afrique du Sud interdise cette pratique touristique, qui décime la faune sauvage. C’est ce qui ressort d’une enquête publiée le 10 août 2022, à l’occasion de la journée mondiale du lion. Un félin particulièrement menacé par la chasse au trophée.
SOUTH AFRICA: 17th National Parks Week opens in September 2022
South African National Parks (SANParks) is organising the 17th annual South African National Parks Week from 11 to 16 September 2022. During this week, free access will be granted to all 19 national parks in the country. The initiative aims to showcase the best of South Africa’s national parks.
