The French Embassy in Morocco and the French Development Agency (AFD) have just signed a grant agreement awarded by the French Global Environment Facility (FGEF). The 1.8 million euro grant will partially finance the pilot project « Outdoor activities for biodiversity in the Ifrane National Park ».

GUINEA: Launch of a conservation project in the Upper-Niger National Park
A new conservation project has been launched in the Upper-Niger National Park (PNHN) in central Guinea. Funded with €35,000 from the Dutch support fund Stichting Otterfonds, the « Participatory Biodiversity Management of the Upper Niger National Park » project aims to eliminate problems such as uncontrolled logging, uncontrolled hunting and bushfires through better involvement of local communities in park management.
CONGO: Ban on export of timber in log form comes into force
The Republic of Congo is suspending the export of timber in the form of logs. The measure came into force on Sunday 1 January 2023 at the port of Pointe-Noire. Congo joins Gabon, which has been applying this sustainability approach to forest management since 2010. Cameroon, on the other hand, continues to export logs, to the detriment of environmentalists and international agreements on forest preservation.
DRC: a campaign against the consumption of wildlife in Kinshasa
The second phase of the « Celebrate Congolese cuisine without bushmeat-Yoka Pimbo! » campaign has been launched in Kinshasa. The initiative of the DR Congo Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and its partners, including the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), aims to reduce the slaughter of wild animals for meat in a city like Kinshasa, which has a population of around 15 million.

« L’éducation est l’arme la plus puissante que vous puissiez utiliser pour changer le monde. » La transposition écologique de cette citation de Nelson Mandela, est la suivante : « L’éducation environnementale est l’arme la plus puissante que vous puissiez utiliser pour inverser la dégradation de l’environnement. » C’est en ce sens que l’Association pour l’égalité et le bien-être (ASEBE), a mené en décembre dernier, une vaste campagne de sensibilisation aux problèmes environnementaux dans la localité de Taro, nous sommes là dans l’arrondissement de Bafia, département du Mbam et Inoubou, région du centre.
